Jay Navarro Oviedo is a Dutch-Colombian urbanist, community builder, and front-runner in the social avant-garde movement. He works on the crossroads of communications, sustainability, and participation, employing various social innovation techniques like Transition Management, Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD), and Penta-helix stakeholder management. He has founded initiatives like The Hague in Transition, a grass-roots movement and incubator for social innovation; Festival Het Circus, a participative sustainability festival; and Just Common People, a social design agency. He has worked with the City of The Hague on policy recommendations for the circular economy and on numerous placemaking and community development projects. Currently Jay also represents The City of The Hague in the Urban Agenda for the EU partnership Circular Economy, where he is the action leader for the Collaborative Economy action. This action aims at creating a holistic and current knowledge pack on the collaborative economy. Looking at the collaborative economy beyond the centralized online for profit sharing platforms, also at grass-roots and community oriented (offline) sharing initiatives that create benefit on an urban level.
